Erie Canal Cruises

Enchanted Forest Water Safari

Located in the Adirondacks, New York’s largest water theme park has something for the entire family to enjoy and is perfect for kids of every age. The park is well laid out and features water rides, amusement rides, an arcade and game area, daily shows, a museum dedicated to the park, and petting zoo. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a photo with the legendary Paul Bunyan statue, a fixture at the park for nearly 60 years. Enchanted Forest operates mid-June through the beginning of September. The Farmers’ Museum

If you love history, The Farmers’ Museum offers a unique opportunity step back in time and experience 19th-century rural and village life firsthand through several demonstrations and interpretive exhibits. The museum is home to a working farmstead, a recreated historic village comprised of buildings gathered from rural communities around New York state, the Empire State Carousel with 25 hand-carved animals, and a Colonial Revival stone barn listed on the National Register for Historic Places. Visitors can also view a collection of more than 23,000 items including early agricultural tools, carriages, and plows. Children will especially enjoy petting and feeding animals in the Children’s Barnyard. Located in Cooperstown, The Farmers’ Museum is a 35-minute drive from Grand Colonial Bed and Breakfast.

Rail Explorers Tour

Rail Explorers are custom pedal-powered railbikes equipped with electric pedal assist motors.  Ride the “Milford Track,” a 12-mile round trip through the farmlands and forests alongside the Susquehanna River.  You’ll glide past working farms, magnificent woodlands, and rumble across historic trestle bridges.  Bring a light refreshment to enjoy at the 20-minute break at the midway turnaround. The full tour length is 2.5 hours.  For a shorter experience, try the “Charlotte Valley Express,” an 8-mile round trip southern tour.  The “Charlotte Valley Express” also offers a Brunch Tour with mimosas, pastries, fresh fruit, and coffee, as well as a romantic twilight Fireside Tour.  Parking and check-in for all tours is located at 136 E. Cooperstown Dreams Park

Cooperstown Dreams Park is a family baseball park featuring fun and excitement where friends, families, and spectators can watch youth teams from around the country play baseball.  Annual tournaments are held in the summer months from July through August.  Over 1,000 teams from America’s 50 states are represented in weekly tournaments played in 22 lighted and enclosed baseball stadiums with 104 clubhouses situated on a 165-acre a baseball village.  If your child or grandchild is playing at Cooperstown Dreams Park, Grand Colonial Bed and Breakfast offers an outstanding value compared to the inns and hotels located in the Village of Cooperstown.  Located in Milford, Cooperstown Dreams Park is a scenic 45-minute drive from Grand Colonial Bed and Breakfast.

Howe Caverns

If you’re looking for a fun and affordable day trip for the entire family, this is the attraction for you. Every tour of Howe Caverns starts with a 156-foot descent below the earth’s surface. From there you can experience a variety of tours exploring a six million-year-old cave. You’ll travel through limestone corridors, cavernous galleries, and under massive boulders until you reach a subterranean riverbed. You’ll be in awe of the strange formations and dripping stalactites you discover. The cave is open year-round, with tours offered Friday through Sunday. You can also enjoy an above ground Adventure Park featuring a Zip line, Ropes Course, Rock Wall and more. The Adventure Park is open seasonally, from late spring to early fall.
