Fenimore Art Museum

The museum collection is housed in an impressive neo-Georgian structure built in the 1930s on the site of James Fenimore Cooper’s early 19^th century farmhouse. Herkimer Home

Tour the Georgian-style home of Brigadier General Nicholas Herkimer, who became an American Revolutionary War hero during the Battle of Oriskany in 1777. Visitors will appreciate the unspoiled landscape, including the Herkimer family burial ground, which is remarkably unchanged from the 18^th century. Suitable for all ages, the historic site also features a visitor center with exhibits and audio tour, guided tours, educational displays, costumed re-enactments, gift shop, picnic area and bird watching area. The site grounds may be enjoyed year-round from dawn to dusk. Guided tours are available on limited days from late May to early September. Admission is usually less than $5 for adults and free for children 12 years and under. Day use and picnicking are free for all.
