Holiday Lantern Tours at the Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown, NY
Enjoy an intimate, hour-long guided walking tour of The Farmers’ Museum and see it dressed in its winter finery during the new Holiday Lantern Tours, taking place on Fridays and Saturdays in December. (December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19)
Join the museum guides as they lead you through the sparkling grounds by lantern light. Learn about the history of Christmas and how it was celebrated in Upstate New York in years past. Hear about the origin of Christmas trees, Christmas cards, and Christmas carols. See what foods were prepared and how homes were decorated. Discover the history of Santa Claus and hear him read, “A Visit from St. Nicholas.” You’ll also learn about major holy days of other religions.
Each tour is limited to eight (8) people in order to accommodate for proper social distancing. A single, larger family unit may reserve a limited time slot. If your family group numbers more than eight, call for booking guidance. Face masks are required. These outdoor tours last approximately one hour, so please dress warmly.
