Decking the Halls at the Fenimore Art Museum

Fenimore Art Museum presents Decking the Halls, a new exhibition that celebrates the holidays with objects and images from the Fenimore collections. Decking the Halls runs through December 31, 2020.

Holiday ornaments, cards, music, and photographs are featured as Fenimore explores the history of favorite wintertime traditions. Find answers to questions such as “Where did the legend of Santa Claus come from?” and “Have we always sung the same carols at the holidays?”. The museum also looks at Cooperstown’s own local traditions, including the writings of Susan Fenimore Cooper which tell of villagers decorating for the holidays as far back as the 1840s. See works of art that reflect the spirit and comfort of the holiday season.

Other current exhibitions include the popular Pete Souza: Two Presidents, One Photographer.  Several additional exhibitions are on display through December 31. See the museum decorated for the holidays and find one-of-a-kind holiday gifts in the Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers’ Museum gift shops.

The Fenimore Museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 10:00am to 4:00pm through December 31 (closed Mondays and Christmas Day).
