Hall of Fame Induction Weekend Lodging

Hall of Fame Induction Weekend, set for July 24 to 27 in 2026, is the toughest week of the year for Cooperstown lodging. Rooms in Cooperstown book 12 to 18 months in advance, and prices triple compared to off-season rates. If you’re attending the ceremony, watching the parade, hitting the Hall of Fame, or just planning a long Cooperstown weekend during Induction, Grand Colonial Bed and Breakfast is a 30-minute drive north in Herkimer, NY, and we’re a smart play for families who didn’t lock in a Cooperstown room early enough.

Hall of Fame Induction Weekend 2026: dates and schedule

The Class of 2026, Carlos Beltrán, Andruw Jones, and Jeff Kent, will be inducted on Sunday, July 26 at 1:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center, about a mile south of the Hall of Fame. Lawn seating is unlimited and free, so bring a blanket or lawn chairs, plus caps and sunscreen for the family. The ceremony usually runs two to three hours and is held rain or shine.

The rest of the weekend fills up fast: the Awards Presentation is Saturday, July 25 at 3 p.m., followed by the Parade of Legends down Main Street at 6 p.m. On Monday, July 27 the Hall hosts a live podcast taping at Doubleday Field at 10:30 a.m. Village parking is tight all weekend. Cooperstown runs color-coded trolley lots just outside the village with 5 dollar all-day trolley tickets, cash only. Staying with us in Herkimer means you can drive down for the day, park once at a trolley lot, and skip the village gridlock entirely.

Why Induction Weekend is unlike any other Cooperstown weekend

Induction Weekend draws tens of thousands of fans to a village of 1,800 people. Cooperstown lodging is fully booked months in advance, prices are at their annual peak, and the main streets are packed shoulder-to-shoulder during the ceremony and parade. Many longtime fans have learned to stay 20 to 30 minutes away and drive in for the events.

Grand Colonial is in Herkimer, 30 minutes north on NY-28. Our rates hold steady through Induction Weekend, our four-room layout supports whole-house bookings for family groups attending together, and a quiet historic neighborhood is a welcome decompression after a packed day in the village.

Book direct for the lowest rate plus our $10/night return-guest discount, or call (315) 982-5004 for whole-house Induction Weekend availability.

How far is Grand Colonial from the Baseball Hall of Fame?

  • Grand Colonial Bed and Breakfast: 112 W German Street, Herkimer, NY 13350
  • National Baseball Hall of Fame: 25 Main Street, Cooperstown, NY 13326
  • Drive time: about 30 minutes south on NY-28
  • Parking strategy: Induction Weekend Cooperstown parking is overrun. Most attendees park at the satellite lots and shuttle in. Plan for traffic both directions.

Why a 30-minute drive Induction Weekend is the smart play

  • Cooperstown lodging is booked 12 to 18 months out. If you’re searching less than a year ahead, in-village rooms are almost certainly gone.
  • Prices in Cooperstown triple Induction Weekend. A room that’s $180 in October is $550 the last weekend of July. Our rates don’t surge.
  • Multi-family bookings work better. Coach plus parents plus siblings plus grandparents need 3 to 4 rooms. Our whole-house option (all four rooms) handles that at a single negotiated rate.
  • Quiet at night. Induction Weekend Cooperstown evenings are loud.

Planning Induction Weekend at Grand Colonial

  • Book early. We typically fill up months in advance for the last weekend of July. The earlier you reserve, the better.
  • Breakfast timing. Big crowds, early Saturday parade start. We arrange breakfast time at check-in so you can leave on whatever schedule the day calls for.
  • Off-day touring. Friday and Sunday have lighter Hall of Fame crowds. The Herkimer Diamond Mines are 15 minutes north of us in the opposite direction, a low-key off-attraction kids and grandparents love.
  • Restaurant strategy. Cooperstown restaurants are overrun Induction Weekend. Our restaurants page covers Herkimer area dining we send guests to.

What Induction Weekend visitors appreciate

  • Off-street parking, free. Cooperstown parking is chaos. Park here, drive in once, deal with parking once.
  • Air conditioning + private baths. Late July heat plus a crowded village = real recovery space at the end of the day.
  • Full hot breakfast included. Don’t waste 90 minutes waiting for breakfast in Cooperstown. Eat here, leave on schedule.
  • Quiet historic neighborhood. Get real sleep before the Saturday ceremony and parade.
